Typography and Design

Action and crime movies have similar fonts due to them often being hybridised or acting as sub-genres to one another (Either crime as a sub to action, or action as a sub to crime). Both are intertwined due to the nature of the genres, crime involves action and violence, similarly, action involves a crime of some sort. Therefore, the font seen with these genres are almost always bold and sans-serif which implies seriousness, as it looks simple and straight to the point, not fancy like serif fonts. They're large and captivating as it's almost in your face and taking up some of the canvas, they're unmissable which suits the overall tone of the movie. the colours are dark to suit the eerie criminal, serious, action-packed mood (as action/crime aren't usually brightly coloured or happy/jovial), or colours that have dangerous connotations like Red. Furthermore, the bold typeface often connotes power and portray the main character as being dominant.

Billing Order

Jay:

Nightcrawler, which is a crime/thriller movie, has a typical billing with a few added features. It possess the standard and important bills such as Studios involved, actors, producers and director. The order simply has a few extras such as Music Supervisors.

Sneha:

Casino Royale is an action/crime movie that has an unconventional billing order. It includes mostly all of the credits whereas, usually there would be just the starring actors, directors and producers. This opening credits for this film includes hair and make-up along with costume designers which would conventionally be at the closing credits.

Kanaiya:

The Dark Knight Rises is an action/crime movie which has an interesting billing order, particularly because there are more credits than the conventional. One example of this is of "Created by..." and "Story by..." which shows that synergy has been used. We also see that the amount of seconds between each credit varies.
